A confirmed production example: GM

In its December 2, 2024 announcement, GM identified LG Energy Solution as its Ultium Cells partner and named vehicles powered by cells from the Ohio and Tennessee plants. The list includes Cadillac LYRIQ, Chevrolet Blazer EV and Equinox EV, Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV and HUMMER EV. This is more specific evidence than a general list of automaker logos. [1]

Our perspective: verify at product level

LG Energy Solution battery partnerships span different chemistries and cell formats. A logo establishes very little about an individual product. Match the company, model, market, announcement date and production status before making a supplier claim. A supply contract, a joint venture and an installed product are different kinds of evidence.

What this means for OEM buyers

Automotive partnerships demonstrate industrial use, but contract-specific cells are not automatically available for wholesale purchase. For LG battery cells for OEM projects, begin with the actual model, documentation and sourcing channel. We discuss LG cylindrical battery cells and LG pouch cells for your project requirements, while keeping availability and qualification separate from brand-level market news.
