Inside a publicly described test program
During a November 20, 2025 media visit, LG Energy Solution Wrocław introduced its Test & Validation Lab. The published account describes mechanical, electrical and environmental testing of EV cells and modules, including short-circuit, overcharge, crushing, vibration and climate tests. It also reports the laboratory’s ISO 17025 certification. [1]
Our perspective: the test name is only the beginning
A useful safety discussion asks which model was tested, at what state of charge, under which procedure and against which acceptance criteria. The sample identity and report scope matter as much as the test label. A laboratory accreditation concerns testing competence within its scope; it should not be presented as a blanket certification of every LG battery cell or every customer’s finished pack.
Connect the cell evidence to the product
LG lithium ion battery cells form one part of an electrical system. Pack construction, protective electronics, thermal design and the intended operating profile can change the system’s behavior. Consequently, a cell report cannot automatically establish a finished mower, drone or vehicle’s compliance. The OEM should identify the product-level evidence needed for its market and application.
Make documentation part of procurement
For genuine LG battery cells, request a traceable model and batch identity, the applicable datasheet and the documents available for the intended shipment and use. Discuss discrepancies before ordering, especially when a model or specification changes. An LG battery cell distributor can help organize the sourcing information. Final qualification should connect those records to the exact cell and pack being purchased.
